What are peripheral nerve entrapments?
PERIPHERAL NERVE ENTRAPMENTS (PNEs) ARE OFTEN OVERLOOKED AS A DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS FOR MOST PRACTITIONERS.  THIS PRIMARILY IS DUE TO A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE REGARDING THE DIAGNOSIS OF PNEs AND A GAP IN THE EDUCATION OF EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OPTIONS.  THIS INFORMATION HELPS BRIDGE THE GAP TO ALLOW BOTH PROPER DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF PNEs TO IMPROVE PATIENT OUTCOMES.
 NERVE INNERVATION
Over 2 dozen nerves exit our spine and course throughout our body creating a vast information network. These spinal nerves branch and truncate into more nerves multiple times in order to send and receive signals related to various tissues throughout our body.
 COMPRESSION & ENTRAPMENT
As these nerves travel, they become susceptible to compression or entrapment under different tissues, like fascia, muscles or fibrous bands, which can create a wide array of patient complaints ranging from minor to severe pain and loss of function.
 SYMPTOMS & CONDITIONS
There are many conditions associated with PNE characterized by paresthesia, atrophy, loss of strength and function. The problems a patient may experience depend on the location and type of nerve involved; motor, sensory or combined.
What Type of Patients have Peripheral Nerve Entrapments?
Peripheral nerve entrapments can affect anyone as there are a multitude of reasons that a nerve may become entrapped, ranging from trauma or prolonged compression to post-surgical scar tissue. Utilizing the FAKTR Rehab System of assessment and treatment, this course will help practitioners identify and resolve the often debilitating symptoms of a peripheral nerve entrapment.
